Anderillium Rosy Maple Moth Pink

Overview

The color/properties:

Rosy Maple Moth Pink is a pastel that’s mostly solid. There isn’t a lot of shading or variation in tone, but then, I don’t think there was any intention for there to be. Any shading you do get will range between minimally varying intensities of pink, with a softer, less noticeable gradient between them. I don’t suspect that any changes in the tune of the pen will produce significantly different results.

Performance on paper:

Rosy Moth Pink had great performance across all the test papers. There was some minimal bleed on the Kokuyo Campus paper with the larger nibs, but otherwise, the ink was well-behaved, and I didn’t experience bleed-through or feathering on the other papers. You shouldn’t have any issues writing on most fountain pen friendly papers. The dry times are average, usually drying between 15-20 seconds with the wider nibs, and maintaining consistency across each paper. The water resistance was better than I expected. The ink retained some color, and it was slightly cloudy, but the remains were still vibrant and readable.

Performance in the pen:

Rosy Maple Moth Pink had a medium-wet flow that was consistent across all of the test nibs and provided a consistently silky glide. I didn’t experience any hard starts, skips, stops, or dryness during my tests. Overall, this is a very well-behaved ink. Cleaning was easy and routine, but the color did linger a bit longer than normal (though not outside of expectation for a pink ink). I was concerned that some of the color would stick to the piston of the pen, requiring a more involved cleaning process, but it wasn’t an issue.

Value/cost per ml:

At the time of writing, Anderillium Rosy Maple Moth Pink is available for $14.50 for a 45ml bottle from select US retailers, making this ink $0.32 per ml.

The bottle/packaging:

Anderillium Rosy Maple Moth Pink comes in a great hexagonal jam jar-style bottle with a gold cap that not only looks good but is very functional as well. The bottle has a nice wide opening that will fit just about any pen (and syringe or pipette when the ink level gets too low), and the bottle feels very stable for filling.

The outer packaging is a basic white box with the same artwork from the bottle depicting a Rosy Maple Moth.

My personal thoughts...

Have you ever actually seen a Rosy maple moth? They’re adorable, and this ink nails it. That is definitely a Rosy maple moth pink. I initially thought that perhaps there was a missed opportunity to not include yellow particulates to match, but then it’s not called Rosy Maple Moth. It’s called Rosy Maple Moth Pink. It’s perfect.
