Day 15!
Welcome to day 15! Today, we’re looking at Frostbite.
The Color and Properties
Diamine Frostbite is a shimmering ink. It has a deep midnight-blue base color with golden particulates that shine in the light. Because of its high saturation, the ink doesn’t show a lot of shading, but instead there’s a minor red sheen around the edges of where the ink pools at the bottom of letters and where letters cross each other.

Frostbite was well-behaved on all of the pages I tested it with, and I didn’t notice any traces of bleeding or feathering on any of the pages. The ink has a medium-wet flow and is well lubricated for a comfortable and pleasant writing experience. I didn’t experience any clogs, hard starts, stops, or drops in flow during my extended writing tests, and the shimmer distribution was excellent across all of the nib sizes, needing minimal agitation to keep the shimmer flowing.
Cleaning the base color out of the pen and nib units was easy and only required a soak and flush with a bulb syringe to rinse out with no traces of color or stains left in the pen; however, there was a light ring of shimmer left along the inside of the pen and around the piston crown, which required disassembly to clean out. Even though the ink cleaned out quickly during my tests, it may be necessary to leave the section/nib unit of the pen to soak overnight if the ink has been sitting in the pen for a long time due to the higher saturation.

My personal thoughts…
At first, I was thinking that Frostbite was going to feel like a redundant shimmery, wintry-blue, but my experiences with it were really positive. It’s one of the more enjoyable, pain-free, and consistent shimmer experiences that I’ve had. The effect is really beautiful, and the color fits perfectly in an Inkvent lineup. Thus far, it's my favorite shimmer in the calendar, and I would absolutely recommend picking it up if you’re interested.
