Diamine Inkvent 2025: Day 23 — Let it Snow

Welcome to day 23! Today, we’re looking at Let it Snow.
The Color and Properties
Let it Snow is a chameleon ink. It contains shimmering particulates that are supposed to change color depending on the angle and lighting in which the ink is viewed. The base color is a cool bright blue with minor green undertones that shades into a slightly darker blue with possible dark blue edges around areas where the ink pools. While the shimmer is supposed to change color depending on the lighting and viewing angle, I mostly noticed a blue shimmer, with hints of purple and pink in dimmer lighting and very awkward angles.

Let it Snow was well-behaved, and I didn’t see any traces of bleeding or feathering on any of the pages I tested it with. The ink has a dry flow and poor lubrication, making for an unpleasant and almost sandy feeling writing experience. Even though the ink is dry, I surprisingly didn’t run into any clogs during my tests, and the ink was able to keep up without any noticeable drops in flow during my tests. Unfortunately, the shimmer distribution is spotty at best, and the ink required a lot of agitation to keep it flowing as consistently as possible. It leads to a very patchy-looking shimmer across the page.
When cleaning the base color, it was cleaned out of the pen and nib units very quickly with a single soak and flush with a bulb syringe. However, the pen had some remaining shimmer residue on the inside that required disassembly to get out.

My personal thoughts…
To me, this is a perfect example of why something being disappointing is way worse than just being outright bad. Imagine my joy when I saw the absolutely glorious color come out of the bottle while I was swatching this year’s calendar. It was beautiful, and I was positive that this would be my favorite of the year. It seemed perfect for Inkvent! And then I wrote with it. Wow. It’s not great. And that’s all I have to say about it. It’s just not great, and that’s exceedingly disappointing.
